The Music Video I'd Like To See

Imagine that today Metallica releases a new single. The music video starts on MTV and you expect the same usual stuff you usually get.. but hey, that doesn't look like James Hetfield...

It's Foo Fighters fake-playing it!

How awesome would that be? How much balls both of the bands would have? That is the kind of music video I would like to see.

Monday

The Cab - One Of THOSE Days

Holy poo their album version of "One Of THOSE Days" sucks.

I heard the song when playing Rock Band and I was so disappointed at the album version I've been trashing the album to anyone who cares to listen to my ramblings.

Do NOT buy the album because of that song if you liked the one in Rock Band. You'll save some money.

I still haven't played it Medium Guitar 100%. I Suck.

Holy Poo Bryan Adams Takes Good Photos

Check the Bryan Adams web site. I don't know what he says to those people, but they look at the camera in such a way...

I knew he is a photographer and was a photographer before he started taking his music seriously but I always thought he takes some black&white pics and that's it, but hey, Harry Belafonte! He's shot, like, everyone. I only wish I'd knew how he looks at Angelina Jolie through his lens. (He made Josh Groban look handsome)

Now, I have ALWAYS denied being a fan of anyone, but I have to confess I used to like Adams' music pretty much back in the early nineties, before I took a liking of electronic music. I did have a picture of him on my wall, but not for long. Does that count as being a fan?

If I was asked who'd I want to date, I guess it might be Bryan Adams. I'd ask him what he was thinking when he first had the idea of a melody to Star. Or did his heart start racing when he completed the chorus to Everything I do (I do it for you).

I'm sad his music just keeps repeating the same all through the year(s). Maybe he is better off photographing people. Sry.

Go David!

One of my favorite hymns, composed by the great Sibelius of Finland, has lyrics in English, which I never knew. I heard it sung by a great young singer, David Archuleta. Finlandia is very beautiful sung (in Finnish) by a Finnish choir Cantores Minores as well, but I must say it has never brought tears to my eyes before though I have always felt it.

I know many hymns are borrowed from other languages, but I didn't have an idea a Finnish composer actually is that famous. I'm sure Finland has at least one artist to be proud of.

The original video was removed from YouTube, but I suppose you could try finding it by searching david +archuleta +be +still +my +soul

Hans Zimmer Is My Musical God.. After Beethoven

I'm not sure if I have spoken of this earlier (and I'm too tired to actually check it), but Hans Zimmer's soundtrack for DaVinci Code (which I still haven't seen except the end) includes a song that stopped my life for the six minutes it runs. I was listening to the soundtrack from the beginning and paid no attention to it until that track came. It made me stop what I was doing and just listen. Then the music rose to the hights (I wish I knew the correct musical term for it), and out of nowhere, there were just tears coming out of my eyes. I didn't think of anything, but the tears just ran - and I just sat there in awe. That track has to be the best piece ever right behind Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. The latter has made me feel feelings stronger, but only once or twice in my life I have heard something that made me cry and Chevaliers De Sangreal did that.

Thank you Hans Zimmer for making this piece. I have heard others have felt it too and I've read that many think it's your best piece ever.

Good night.

EDIT: Apparently the correct term for pieces like Chevaliers De Sangreal would be "played appassionata"

EDIT 2: I knew I have liked the productions of Hans Zimmer for ages and my old Rain Man soundtrack proves it :)

EDIT 3: Should I really sit down and watch the movie for which it has been written?

EDIT 4: I still love this tune (which has made me teary too)

Music Video With The Sims 2

I made this little sappy video for Lostprophets' 4am Forever. Sorry for stealing the song, guys!

This is for the boy who was my first love. He didn't have the courage to live his life. He drowned himself 11 years and a month ago today. Most of the things actually happened except that we never got married :)

Lostprophets Makes Me Sad

I often have spoken about songs having a big effect on me. Here's one.

LostProphets - 4am Forever.

I heard it only two days ago for the first time (where the hell have I been- again?) and it just makes me so sad every time. I couldn't give a rat's ass about the lyrics as usual, but there's something in this song.. Here's a pretty nice piano interpretation of the piece (although in some parts, he just messed it up):

I like this piece very much, because nobody sings in it. Singing (often with no-existent talent) ruins most of the songs..

I've never been a good song explainer and when I try, I usually get it wrong. How would I explain this, though? His friend died and he's trying to tell it's important to keep your friends close in case it's over some day. For his friend, it's 4 am forever. The music video, however, states that it's about his and his girlfriend's break-up. But since I'm so sick and tired of those themes, I'd like it NOT to be like that.

.. and by the way.. It's my 27th birthday in seven days.

Today I..

Put that thing in pieces, changed the processor, fixed stuff and put it all in one. And it took me five hours.

Well, that sure was a day well spent.

I also have a new favorite pop song which I listened the five hours I was fighting with the laptop.

Goo Goo Dolls - Before It's Too Late

The Saddest Tune

Sometimes I hear a tune that makes me shed a few tears. Listen to this little piece of an upcoming game mod Blackmesa (on Source engine). If that link doesn't work in a few days, go to http://www.blackmesasource.com/downloads.html and download Theme.

Wonder if it does the trick on anyone else.

It has been snowing in the northernmost part of the country. Fabulous. I love winter and hope it comes soon this year. In 2006 we had to wait until christmas to get decent snow.

Monday

Another one..

I have liked this song for quite some time now, though it was published somewhere in 1990. I don't like most of the song, but the first two minutes and these lyrics.

For a person who's had a lot of nightmares and think dreams are valuable, I find these lyrics quite comforting.. I wish someone would sing this to me. I rarely like music that has been made by long haired men, but I might do an exception here:

Silent Lucidity

Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over
... or has it just begun?

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension
I will be watching over you
I am gonna help you see it through
I will protect you in the night
I am smiling next to you
In Silent Lucidity

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from the pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but...
I will be watching over you
I am gonna help to see it through
I will protect you in the night
I am smiling next to you...

Tuesday

One Of These Days Again

I normally don't listen to the radio. Yesterday I turned it on by accident and there it was.. I stopped there and couldn't understand why it had the effect on me. Nickelback, you did it again! Here's a confession for you, world: Nickelback is my weakness, despite of all the techno and house enthusiasm. It's only occasionally when a song can stop me right there and this one did it. I actually stayed up to - I don't know - four a.m. just to listen a few songs..

The tune of last night:

Nickelback - Far Away

Another song that stopped me a few weeks ago was a song that's originally (a Tears for Fears song) on the Donnie Brasco soundtrack, but I discovered it on the sixth-season episode "Room service" of CSI. I must have watched the opening scene where the song played at least two dozen times just to hear that song. I also saw the music video last night. Though the idea of the video is cute, the CSI opening scene would have made a better video. It was an excellent episode, by the way..

Ladies and Gentlemen, tune of the day:

Gary Jules - Mad World

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had

Sunday

Phantom

Today I spent a few hours watching a movie called The Phantom of the Opera. Then I watched it again. And again. I didn't like the way Gerry sings most of the time, but he - even with a tormented face - looks heavenly good. The music is so beautiful and the end scene made me cry. Haha. I seem to be crying very often nowadays. I liked it very much and am ashamed I didn't go to the movies to see it to view it on big screen. There's one more thing: I can never go see it in the opera. For me, phantom's face will always be Gerry's.

The best part is when Christine is forced to make a choice between the Phantom and Raoul. She sings: "Angel of music" with such a feeling...

Pitiful creature of darkness
What kind of life have you known ?
God give me courage
to show you
you are not alone

Friday

So Beautiful

Dang.

Enough Natural Selection for me. I had a dream last night about my iguana xenosiding.

I was trying to do some school stuff last night (the day before due date of course) and I ended up downloading some mp3's. I came across with a song that just made me stop for awhile. Maybe it was about the frustration (WHY the hell can't Access support real SQL but the weirdy version of Microsoft?) or the fact that it was almost 4 am, but when I heard the song it just made tears rolling down my face. It was something so beautiful and I can't understand the weak moment I had.

Well, I guess I'll go and buy the whole album.

And I also found an excellent trance anthem: Sash - Together Again (Perfection Trance Remix 2005)

The lyrics of the tune of the day really don't mean that much, but the way that dude sings just makes my heart melt down.

The tune of today:

Lifehouse - Into the Sun

I never meant to let you go
Why did I leave maybe we'll never know
But I'm a man now broken on the ground
I'm in need and I think that it shows
All this time we're going nowhere and we know it
I was so blind
All the lights are leading to where you're going
I'm not far behind
And now we're running into the sun
Getting close to something into the sun
You know that we're falling
We're falling back into the sun

Kissing

Not that I would do what I'm thinking of - it just occured to me that a certain feeling disappears after the first kiss you share with someone. I'm not sure everyone understands what I'm saying, but I will try to explain it: You know when you hear a song that just makes you close your eyes and stand still - you simply forget where you were going and what you were thinking just before you turned the radio on. That's the feeling you get when you kiss someone for the very first time. It's a little twitch in your tummy just a blink of an eye before the kiss - when you suddenly realize that the moment is going to lead to a kiss and you really, really like the one who's standing there in front of you. And it's an one-time-offer only - it will never happen again with this same person. I can barely remember the feeling but I have this strange anxiety (I guess it's about the springtime) that I have to feel it again. But no worries, I have no plans of making it happen. I just keep thinking that it's something one loses after making a promise of staying together with someone for the rest of one's life.

The tune of the moment - it's 3am now - is something that feels like the first kiss with someone special. Every single time. Listen to this. Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata (Op 27 No 2 for piano in D-minor is the one I have)

More about kissing. Have you ever had disappointments? You really wait for the courage to kiss someone and when the moment finally comes the person is a bad kisser - or his breath stinks - or he tries to stick his tongue right through your head - OR he just feels like eating a snail, wet, loose and - ummm, well, you know - boring. One very big disappointment was a friend of mine who I really badly wanted to kiss me and whom I had a big crush. When he finally did, I went numb - He is a tall, strong and goodlooking guy who kisses like he thinks he would break the one he's kissing. I felt thunderstruck - in the bad meaning. I've had the other end too: a guy - another crush again - was a perfect kisser for me and every time he kissed me I had to struggle not to start dancing. But that first kiss sting was there only once.

It's strange, this, how us humans - we ended up like this. No other animal on this planet kisses like we do - and if they did, it wouldn't mean so much to them as it feels for a human. A kiss is a seal of a faithful friendship, dedication - or pure desire. It can start and end a relationship, it makes promises but can be a lie too.
