Beautiful Winter

Oh, until after Christmas, it mostly rained. The weather was gray.. I was so longing for winter, a proper one with everything nice included, like snow. Now I have it. Everything is covered with snow, and now that the Sun is showing itself a bit more everyday, it's so beautiful to wake up. The only thing I want to complain ('cause you always have to complain) is how cold it is. They predicted a nice -26 (centigrade), and I think it's a bit too much.. you can go outside only if you wear something that looks like you're trying to reach the South Pole. But I don't really mind. The view from our bedroom window is amazing: I can see kilometer after kilometer of tree line, hills and sky. It's amazing!

I heard one American exchange student complain why a snow day doesn't cancel school or close shops. It barely snowed fifteen centimeters that day! He said they close schools for that. That's nuts... I get it if snows for nine days, and fifteen centimeters each day - at least, but this? Or then us Finns have some bolts loose in our head. We consider walking to school knee deep in snow perfectly normal, and it only stops the old folks or people who commute by bike. Of course, the people in the southern part of the country suddenly forget they don't live in tropical environment when it snows a little. They also usually forget how to drive a car. But the rest of us, we manage quite well, despite of the "snow chaos!" -headlines the papers make after a bit of snow.

Oh, and I quit playing Sims 3. It's crazy how badly it's done. It requires so much resources from a computer. I already have a high-end computer, with fast hard drives in RAID, and still the game lags. And I also think that I have reached my limit of seeing useless stuff being sold for way too much money. And they STILL don't have weather in Sims 3, which sucks. I want snow, thunder, rain, hurricanes...

Saturday

It Can't Rain All The Time

It's been raining for almost a month now. Not every day, but most of the time.

I go to school by bike, and it's really not nice. No matter

About school... so far, I've enjoyed the school. I haven't even ditched a class yet. It's weird.

And now something completely different:

It's the extra tooth I'm growin in my jaw bone. <3

Sunday

The Murder In The Neighborhood

Okay, so, basically now we know what happened. The woman killed was a druggie, her kid taken away to foster care. Crimes, you know, the works. The dude who allegedly killed her had been convicted of murder once already and had gotten out early. There are two more people involved, the wife of the killer and the brother-in-law of the victim. All criminals, druggies.

One druggie less, I say.

It's a strange January. It's a uphill-downhill ride with the temperatures. Tomorrow it will be something closer to zero (centigrade) and just today it was -21 (centig.). And the day after tomorrow it's supposed to be back to -20. It should be -20 the whole month through.  I'm glad there's lots and lots of snow.

I'm nervous about starting at my new job. I've been overlooked in so many interviews I've lost every bit of confidence I once had plenty of. I'm half expecting to be fired. Everyone's saying be positive, be positive.. well, I can't magic the effin positive from nothing. FFS.

Friday

Winter Without Job

I'm so happy. It seems that we're getting a proper winter this year too! It's been snowing. Today it's about ten degrees below zero (centigrade) and it's been like this for a few weeks. The trees are covered in frost and everything seems mostly white. It's so pretty outside it makes me smile. I went for a walk the other day and noticed I was smiling the whole time I was out there. The walk was nice until yesterday when I noticed my sartorius is so stiff I can barely stand up straight. I guess it's the downside of never exercising.

Oh, a few weeks ago  I had this very strange fever attack. I was fine at six and was down with a 39,5 degrees (centigrade) fever by eight. I was so hurting everywhere, cold, hot - everything by ten in the evening I thought I was going to die. I took some pills and had the fever down by next morning. Since that fever I've felt like shit (or even shittier), headachy and nauseous..

I forgot to tell we gave up the bird, our agapornis. She didn't work well with us being by herself so we gave her to someone who had company for her. Since that I've felt I won't be taking any pets from this day on.

I'm still out of work.

Monday

News

No, actually there's no news.

I got two last wisdom teeth removed. Got a horrible, painful infection. Been on antibiotics since.

The heat-hell of summer is over (yippikayee) and it's fall. Leaves are turning yellow. It was hell. Been sitting inside most of July and August.

I watched My Stepmother is An Alien (starring Dan Aykroyd and Kim Basinger) from year X before Y (=old). I still liked it. It was entertaining.

I started playing EVE Online again. Let's see if I can play it long enough to go past trial.

I haven't written ANYTHING whole summer. Been thinking of it. Had good ideas. Still don't got the talent.

Have started a dream journal (yes, pen on paper). Funky dreams.

I feel sick as hell. Every day something new and the old ones don't go away. Now either I'm going crazy (hypochondriac crazy) or I have AIDS.

Other than that, life's peachy.

Friday

Summer's Gone

Aaaw, I just noticed there are so many yellow leaves already! That means the summer is gone, though I'm pretty sure it's still warm outside. I haven't been properly out for a week or two; I've gone out for groceries, not really for anything else. Been mostly playing Fallout 3 or Civ IV.

We have a new parrot, an agapornis roseicollis, and she's making my nerves crack. I'm not her numero uno human, and she's so letting me know I'm not the IT person for her. She sings very prettily, but tends to do these terrible screeks in the morning, if I don't go and turn the radio on for her. She's pretty, yellow and red and bites hard. How do you teach a bird not to bite you, anyway? You can't push her away not to make her fear your hand. She doesn't understand yelling at her.. There are days when I wish J woudn't have taken her at all, but most days she just keeps melting my heart over and over again.

For all my life, I have written these short stories, nothing fancy and more teen stuff than grown up stuff. I did this one story, over 70 pages and decided it was too crappy. Now I have a writer's block and it's killing me. I get nothing out. I wish I was natural, that words just came out me.. but nothing. I'm worthless, talentless and ugly. What more could go wrong?

I have applied for 23 positions in the last three weeks. Three replies, one interview, no job. I'm starting to hate this unemployment. Every month without a job makes the chance of getting work go further.

Tuesday

A Lovely Mini-Break

I have had this really strange feeling for a couple of days, like something has been pushed to wrong direction or as if something weird is going on. I can't seem to get rid of the feeling, though I seem to have tried everything.

Well, I'll find out sooner or later.

In the mean time: We had a long heat wave. I was worried, because the grass started to turn yellow, but for a couple of days we've had pretty decent downpour. I don't mind the rain at the moment, I'm only glad that the trees are finally looking more alive.

I spent a nice weekend at my oldest friend's place (oldest friend whom I still see every now and then), we went to the rides at the the park in his town, went sightseeing (mainly local old architecture), shopping and even got to play Battlefield: Bad Company on PS3.

The best part of the weekend? I got myself three Neil Gaiman paperbacks: Anansi Boys, American Gods and Smoke and Mirrors. I love the short stories. The Holy Grail -story almost bought tears to my eyes.

I'm starting to get desperate on the job market. I really need, need, need a job.

Monday

Today In Russia...

I heard Putin is going to do his famous questionnaire on Russian TV. Unfortunately people just can't phone and ask. I would ask him what will happen to Medvedev (or whatever the puppet is called) if he starts thinking with his own brain and speaking with his own mouth. Do the russians actually believe that Medwhatever is the president? 'Cause in my humble opinion, he's not.

I bet they will assassinate the president and the "people" will ask Putin to step into his shoes.

The last bit of the snow is gone after two days or rain. I hate our weather.

Friday

Snow's Gone

The temperature is up to +4. The snow is almost gone. There's soft wind and sunshine. It used to be -15 this time of the year. So I guess winter's gone too. Greenhouse effect, anyone?

I'm cold.

Oh and I had the weirdest nightmare EVER! I don't remember much anymore since I've been up for eight hours now, but I remember the bit where there were worms in my veins and I cut little cuts and squeezed them out of me. I woke up itching, so I took a three-hour bath and changed the sheets. I have been watching some scary movies, but I skipped all the gory ones. I think the movies are not to blamed for this dream. I think it's Trauma Center - Second Opinion, which I've been playing on Wii. There's an operation where you have to make small cuts in order to get some nasty things out of a patient. I hate that game.

Speaking of games, We have bought only a few games for our Wii: Resident Evil 4, Raving Rabbids and Raving Rabbids TV Party, Fit and Sports. I love Raving Rabbids, I've had some of my best laughs playing Raving Rabbids 2 that we borrowed from one of J's friends. The balance board has been my favorite since I realized how to work my balance. Tip: Don't bother with the yoga, it will only make you frustrated or feel inadequate. Besides, Fit's Age calculator sucks. My body is 21 years old in it's opinion.

It Can't Rain All The Time..

Well, actually it can. It's been raining the whole day. No breaks, just constant rain. I guess it's fall now. In August!

The summer was sucky anyway. We had warm days (meaning above +23 centigrade) for less than two weeks since May 1st until today. My flowers at the balcony froze in June! How creepy is that?!

If this is greenhouse effect, this greenhouse has its windows broken.

Saturday

A Good Day

The sun was shining from a clear blue sky, the wind blew softly and I woke up happy.

I don't even understand why, but today was a particulary fine day.

I also watched Anna and the King, Down With Love, The Island and three episodes of "The Nanny" on youtube.

And I wrote a good deal of my short story (which isn't so short in its 38 pages, though) and I noticed I had lost 2 inches from my hip and 3 from my waist. Without dieting.

Wednesday

Jessica Alba & Tarzan

I didn't even realize Jessica Alba is of anything else than "white" descent until I read she said "Don't call me latina". I always thought latina is something you call a woman of full latin born parentage, but one can be wrong only for so many times ;)

I saw Silver Surfer today, by the way. How does it seem to me that Chris Evans is not much of an actor? But I suppose good looks override the disability to say your lines without sounding as if you were reading them from a paper.. I don't mind, don't get offended. I've always preferred the talkers in my relationships, but for a guy who looks like that, I wouldn't mind if we couldn't create a decent conversation.

The weather has been weird today. First, it was raining. Then the wind rose. Then it was snowing. Then a blinding sunshine from a clear blue sky, then some more snow and now it's just a clear blue sky again. It should be 20 degrees (centigrade) BELOW and we're getting pollen warnings. How creepy is this?

OH, hey, I just had the brainstorm of my life.

I wish they'd remake Tarzan. The animals - of course - could be CGI.

Jane could be Jessica Alba and Tarzan (of course) Chris Evans. And the voices.. The elephant could be the guy who played opposite Heigl in Knocked up, the chubby one. The panther should be Christopher Lee, the mother could be Queen Latifah and the leader ape could be Robert DeNiro.

Good idea, eh?

Snow

It started snowing..

... and it's turning into shlush.

Also:

I hate Angelina Jolie and her stupid fake accent in Alexander (which I watched again after realizing Jared Leto was in it)..

Thursday

I Want Snow :(

I do not understand why I'm waiting for the snow. The winter here is dark and long and I will probably get sick of the darkness and the coldness before january, but I want it to snow so badly.

My heart broke: I saw a duck boy swimming next to a dead duck girl. The boy tried to lift her head up from under the water and pushing her towards the shore. Then it quacked three times with such a heartbreaking voice my day was ruined. I was late from work that day anyway and I stayed to watch him give up. As the girl ducks body was drifting along the current, the boy stopped quacking. Then it yelled one more time and then went to the others. I wonder if it remembers that girl duck. Or did it really feel sad or was it just me humanizing the event..?

And now to the lighter thoughts of the day:

Imagine a guy so handsome you keep thinking that you must be dreaming - that there cannot be such a guy alive on earth.

Imagine the guy holding a guitar.

Imagine the heavenly blue, big eyes, long lashes and black hair.

Imagine him looking at you as if he was the shyest guy on earth.

Imagine him whispering "Close your eyes".

Hear him singing to you hitting perfect notes.

Now wake up.

Friday

The Fly Is Still Alive

Yes, and it's tearing my nerves.

Should I feed it? Wonder if I could keep it alive through winter, would it like me?

Naah, just kidding. :)

The weather is nice, cold, but the sun is shining. I wish that winter would come soon this year.

Oh.. I have had this very unpleasant thought of not seeing year 2008 - for quite some time now. I also keep getting those panic attacks - the ones that I get when my tanatophopia kicks in. I have been able to hide them from J many times and I hope he won't see them, since he gets so scared.

I heard that some people know when they are going to die, that they have these dreams full of actual feelings - or they feel terrible lightness and start seeing everything as it would be the last time. I have had all of that lately. And you know what..? I would be relieved. That it would finally be over. I wouldn't have to wake up at night and suddenly realize that it could be over any time, I wouldn't have to be afraid that J would get into a car accident. I wouldn't have to care. My mother would be glad for finally getting rid of me for good - since that's what she's wanted since the day I was born. My sisters would be happy for me, since they would think I could have peace.

I wish I could live without a days regret, not feeling sorry for myself or anyone else. One perfect day would be enough for me - and I'd be ready to die. Do you hear that, fate? I'll exchange one perfect day - for the rest of my days.

.. I know that
only time can tell us how
to carry on without each other..

Wednesday

Intern

Yes, I'm an intern now.

Long days, boring hours and no pay.

That's what kills me. The fact that I don't get paid for working 8 hours 15 minutes, working when others go for lunch and working without proper guidance. I'm glad I haven't electocuted anyone yet.. And when working ovetiring gigs, In addition there's the commuting for ages. By bike. Through heavy traffic.

I thought I'd instantly start losing weight, but no, I haven't. Because I'm too tired to actually COOK something decent. That for we buy what ever we feel like and usually it's something you can prepare with no effort at all - and unfortunately mostly it's something without any healthy thingets in it.

The weather is sooo fine right now, has been for three days. The temperatures are more than 10 degrees higher than usually this time of year, the sun is shining, the wind is amazing.

And soon it will be winter. Snow up to your thigh, days with barely two hours of daylight. I love that season..

Which reminds me of my shitty overcoat. Gotta get a new one.

Friday

The Saddest Tune

Sometimes I hear a tune that makes me shed a few tears. Listen to this little piece of an upcoming game mod Blackmesa (on Source engine). If that link doesn't work in a few days, go to http://www.blackmesasource.com/downloads.html and download Theme.

Wonder if it does the trick on anyone else.

It has been snowing in the northernmost part of the country. Fabulous. I love winter and hope it comes soon this year. In 2006 we had to wait until christmas to get decent snow.

Last Weeks of Summer

This year I'm definitely going to miss this summer.

I don't even understand why, it's been a crappy, rainy summer.

Somehow the thought of the winter is like taking a huge weight off my shoulders.

... And one of my oldest friends had the guts to tell me he has liked me ever since we first met. I wonder how my life would be if he had told me that seven years ago.

Tuesday

Paris Hilton

Why should Paris be freed after what she's done?

Doesn't she have enough brain to read her own papers? Why blame the rep?

And the mother - oh - my - god.. "After all the money we spent?". Well, that proved my belief that you can get out of a lot of things with a big fund...

Paris, you belong in jail, so stop counting on your rich parents and famous name.

Hope no one falls for your little "petition".

One friend of mine just said: "The celebs should get twice the time they get just because people look up to them and learning that you can buy your way out of jail by blaming others and handing a big pack of money, is not teaching anything to anyone."

I cannot agree more.

Oh yeah, and I just spent nine days being living half life. I had a terrible flu and I was going nutty after day 6. The sun was shining and all that shit - and I was sitting inside blowing my nose.

Friday

Where's The Snow?!

It's been two weeks since we last had snow. No, put it three. All the snow is gone and it rains almost every day. I wish it stopped raining already - though I was happy first, since it was a very dry and warm summer..

Except for last Sunday. The weather was fine - though a bit chilly - and we took my telescope out. I managed to see the Horsehead nebula and the Cassini division of Saturn. I guess I'll soon have to buy another, larger, heavier and more expensive telescope. If I could only win in the lottery or at least have a job, I'd get this one: CPC 1100 GPS (XLT)And yes, my current telescope is far from "good". I have a Tasco Luminova 114x900 with a 4mm, 9mm, 10mm, 20mm and 25mm oculars and a 2x Barlow and a 3x Barlow. A good starter telescope, though.
